Transient Entertainment
Transient Entertainment is a fictional movie production company. The adjective transient describes something that always changes or moves around, something temporary or transitory. In filmmaking, each frame lasts only for a short time; they are impermanent.
The animated logo intro depicts a random scene from the daily routine of a New Yorker, with the help of consecutive photographs. Instead of using 24 frames per second, a few frames are taken out to accentuate the production lying behind the featured movie. Finally the video freezes: in this particular frame, a girl is seen through the windows of the train – a detail probably most people would have missed if the action wasn’t frozen.
2 other versions are shown below. In these, the frozen frame depicts a different girl’s reflection in one of the train’s windows.
“Dive Into The Unconscious”
mersus: sunk, buried, plunged animus: soul, spirit, mind, will
This fictional app provides a trip to the user’s unconscious mind. The user will be able to wander around his/her repressed feelings, hidden phobias, thought processes, forgotten memories and dreams.
Mersus Animus will be mainly available for mobile phones, tablets, and computers. Once the app is downloaded and opened, the camera will scan the user’s eye to connect with the brain. A screen will appear after the synchronization is complete, but it will be visible only to the user like a green curtain drawn over his/her eyeballs.
The assignment was to write a letter to someone and confront him/her about something. Students were then asked to turn these letters into videos. The inspiration behind the video was AdultSwim’s short clips viewed between commercials.
